Batman ‘89 vs Superman ‘78
It’s the battle of the heavyweights. In 1978, Superman: The Movie became the first prestige superhero film, proving that comic books could inspire more than just hokey TV shows and movie serials. Eleven years later, 1989’s Batman arguably became the template for all future superhero films, and sparked a new boom in comic book movies. Both of these films are enormously influential, but only one can take home tonight’s Golden Idol. Will it be Burton or Donner? Keaton or Reeves? Basinger or Kidder? Gentlemen, take your corners … and let’s talk about movies!
